I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6

Rebirth Instructions

In today’s topic we focus on rebirth — the condition of salvation around which many misunderstandings have arisen. People understand it very differently. Often, especially in Protestant circles, one hears: “I have been born again” — and sometimes it comes down only to a declaration of faith. Meanwhile, rebirth is a process that combines intervention from above (the action of the Holy Spirit) with our conscious effort. We can indeed accept the Spirit — but we can also reject Him. The Holy Scriptures provide examples of people who tasted the action of the Spirit and then returned to their old lives. That’s why today we’ll talk about how rebirth really happens and what this process involves. It doesn’t happen “by itself,” nor does it result solely from a one-time act of faith. One can — and ought to — act “technically” and consistently so that transformation truly progresses, of course in cooperation with the Holy Spirit. I call this reprogramming, because it is not about a literal second birth, but about a deep transformation: of thinking, attitudes, and above all — our spirit.

We are, whether we like it or not, programmed. Christ, speaking about the necessity of being born again, pointed to the need for change. The Bible uses expressions like “convert” or “correct oneself.” The latter is closer to me — because it reflects the effort of consciously organizing our inner life. Our “programming” is not the result of chance or fate; it is shaped by the interplay of strong, lifelong influences: family, society, religion, the education system, mass culture. Movies, books, the press, school — all this shapes personality. It’s no coincidence that so much importance is attached to controlling education: instead of reliable knowledge, more and more often ideologies are being instilled to properly shape beliefs. Those who understand the mechanism try to defend themselves, but the system works methodically. Examples? For instance, the emphasis on early “sex education”: not because the child practically needs it, but to imprint certain patterns and values (or their absence) as early as possible.

To reverse this, it’s helpful to adopt a comparison: the mind is a supercomputer, and the most important software works “invisibly” — in the subconscious. I call it the spirit. Consciousness (that is, the soul) analyzes and decides “live,” like operational memory; the spirit is the background layer — habits, reflexes, patterns — directing most of our daily reactions. The Bible distinguishes spirit, soul, and body (1 Thess 5:23). Our goal is for “spirit, soul and body” to be preserved blameless at the coming of the Lord. An innate element of this software is the conscience — that’s why the apostle Paul wrote that even without knowing the Law, people can act in accordance with its essence (Rom 2:14–16). The conscience, however, can be strengthened or suppressed, or even distorted — and we will be held accountable for this.

Scripture also says that software can be shaped: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Prov 22:6). This is nothing other than programming. The method? Above all, word and repetition. “These words… you shall teach them diligently to your children, and you shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up” (Deut 6:6–7). Act early and systematically: by the sixth year of life, the strongest patterns of faith and values are formed — later, too, it’s possible, but the foundation is created then. At the same time remember: if we don’t program children with good, the world will do it according to its models.

And how to program yourself? The same way. If you feed yourself with TV series and news, you give your subconscious to creators who have specific goals. Media and language shape perception: about some countries we hear “governments,” about others “regimes” — to emotionally encode a judgment. This world constantly uses such manipulations. That’s why we must feed ourselves with something else: the Word of God. “Whatever is true, noble, just… think about such things” (Phil 4:8). “Blessed is the man… his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by streams of water…” (Ps 1). If your „roots” reach into pure water, you will bear fruit in due season; if you draw from poisoned sources, you wither.

Most people remain powerless because their spirit has been shaped by social mechanisms of hypnotic programming, not by conscious choices. Can this be broken — that is, can one be born again? Yes, though there are no shortcuts. The first step: honestly look within and recognize which programs truly govern you. Then gradually deactivate them and replace them with new code — a program of freedom, love, and agency — in cooperation with the Holy Spirit. We are created in the image of the Creator — not for mere existence, but for creativity and fruitfulness.

This is exactly what Yeshu calls for in conversation with Nicodemus (Jn 3:1–8): „Unless one is born from above (of water and Spirit), they cannot enter the Kingdom of God.” Birth „from above” is not an empty metaphor: it is an inner renewal that God foretold through the prophets. David prayed: „Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me” (Ps 51:12). Ezekiel proclaimed: „I will give you a new heart and a new spirit… I will remove the heart of stone… I will put my Spirit within you” (Ez 36:26–27; 11:19). Water — immersion in the name of Yeshu — and the Spirit — God’s gift to be received and nurtured — are the two wings of this transformation.

Being born anew also requires stripping off the „old person” and putting on the „new” (Eph 4:22–24). This is not just a change in thinking, but in practice: whoever lied — let them speak the truth; whoever stole — let them work; whoever hurt — let them build up. Paul unveils the world’s mechanism: „we behaved according to the customs of this world… according to the spirit acting in the children of disobedience” (Eph 2:1–3). We must not conform to this age (Rom 12:2), because „the god of this world has blinded minds” (2 Cor 4:4). We must be „transformed by the renewal of our minds” to discern God’s will.

Discipline of thought is also crucial. „Those who live according to the flesh think about fleshly things; those, however, according to the Spirit — about spiritual things” (Rom 8:5–9). What you feed your mind becomes the content of your spirit. The word you speak is powerful: „Death and life are in the tongue’s power” (Prov 18:21). „For with the heart one believes for justification, and with the mouth one confesses for salvation.” (Rom 10:10). So it’s not enough to think differently — you must also speak differently and live differently.

A deeper barrier can be identity — how you see yourself. The world pressures you to define yourself through labels: origin, education, possession. Meanwhile, your value comes from the fact that „For we are his handiwork, created in the Anointed Yeshu for useful labor, which God prepared beforehand for us to walk in.” (Eph 2:10). You are created in the image and likeness of God (Gen 1:26–27) and redeemed „with the precious blood of the Anointed” (1 Pt 1:18–19). This is your deepest identity. Whoever accepts it ceases to be a tool in the hands of others; they start living creatively, responsibly, and courageously.

However, it is not enough to know that „the mind is a supercomputer.” You need to recognize the programs installed. The system of this world prefers people who are weak, fearful, and convinced of their own powerlessness — they are easier to control. That is why culture, education, and media messaging so often reinforce a vision of life tainted by fear and lack. If you do not challenge it, you will live below the potential for which you were created. Therefore, choose consciously: nourish yourself with the Word, pray, immerse yourself in the name of Yeshu, ask for the Holy Spirit — and cooperate with Him in everyday decisions.

A few answers to questions that often arise:

– „Why does my soul need salvation?” Because the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23). In mercy God gave a way out: through the death and resurrection of Christ we can avoid condemnation if we accept His reign and submit to transformation. Salvation does not happen „beside” you — it changes you.

– „And what about free will?” God does not force anyone to live with Him. You have a choice. If you reject salvation, you take upon yourself the consequences of your own actions. Yeshu offers forgiveness and new life—but this requires a decision and stepping onto the path of discipleship.

– “How do you combine the work of the Holy Spirit with your own effort?” The Spirit enables, inspires, convinces—but will not do for us what belongs to us. Paul calls us to “put off the old self,” “renew the spirit of your mind” (Eph 4). The Spirit lives in us, but can be grieved; His presence demands purity. Hence the calls to be watchful, pray, think soberly, and be consistent.

– “Can the Spirit leave us?” Scripture shows that His activity is sometimes given again (Acts 2; Acts 4). It’s not about whimsical “coming and going,” but about the real dynamic of relationship: we are the ones who “make space for Him”—removing whatever opposes His nature.

– “When should you act practically?” Always. Put your habits, language, what you watch and read in order. Feed your mind every day with what is true and pure (Phil 4:8). Talk to God, profess your faith, practice obedience. It is not a one-time act, but a constant process of cooperating with grace.

In summary: your fate is not predetermined. You are not a slave to history, labels, the past, or other people’s narratives. You can—and should—break the programming of this world and be born again, from above: from water and the Spirit. Every day you choose whether to follow the spirit of this world or the Voice of the One who created you for freedom, creativity, and victory. If you have questions, ask them boldly. And remember: what you say, think, and do either strengthens or weakens your spirit. Choose things that lead to life. May the God of peace sanctify you completely, “so that spirit, soul, and body may be kept blameless” for the coming of our Lord Yeshu the Anointed (1 Thess 5:23).
