I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6
The Narrow Path, Matthew Chapter 7
Welcome
There is much talk about the narrow path described in the Holy Scriptures, but are we able to find it and follow it? With the help of our compass or map—the Inspired Scriptures—we will examine what exactly this term means and how to identify the path leading to life in the new aeon.
Matthew 7:13-14. „“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
From this description, we learn that there are very few people who walk the narrow path. Although many believe they are on this path, in their choices, they actually follow the crowd and the will of the world. An unbiblical teaching has entered among Christians and people all over the world, namely that the majority is always right. But they forget that truth cannot be decided by a vote. Truth remains truth even if the whole world is deceived. The path we follow is solely the truth presented by Christ, the apostles, and the servants of Christ who wrote the Holy Scriptures, our manual for life.
In chapter 7 of the Gospel of Matthew, we find many clues about both the narrow and the wide path. Let us closely examine the content of this chapter.
Matthew 7:1-2. „“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.”
Our Lord Yeshu, dying on the cross, gave us a chance for life in the new aeon, but we must fulfill a few conditions to attain that honor. It is not easy, and it relates to the narrow path we must walk. I have written about this in other articles, such as „How to Achieve Salvation pt.1 and pt.2.” One of the steps is immersion in the name of Yeshu, through which we receive forgiveness of all sins. Christ does not judge us, but gives everyone a chance to turn to life in His name, Yeshu, forgiving our faults. He gives this chance to everyone, no matter what faults you have committed in life. Therefore, we too should not judge anyone.
Matthew 7:3-5. „Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”
People often quote these verses thinking of others instead of focusing on themselves and removing the log from their own eye. We are encouraged not to judge others and, at the same time, to judge ourselves.
1 Corinthians 11:31. „But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged.”
By focusing on ourselves, we can improve our lives and better imitate our Savior Yeshu.
Matthew 7:7-12. „“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
The wisdom from these verses is about taking action—you cannot expect to understand the Scriptures if you do not read them, nor can you find God if you do not seek Him. People often focus on others’ interpretations and seek teachings without checking if the person speaks the truth or just shares his own philosophy. We must beware of false prophets, „wolves in sheep’s clothing” (Matthew 7:15).
John 5:24. „Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.”
Hebrews 4:2. „For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened.”
Our faith comes from hearing, but the key action is believing in what is heard. We must be cautious about what we listen to and believe, checking if a person’s interpretations are consistent with what is written in the Inspired Scriptures. It may turn out to be only his claims, not supported by the Scriptures.
Matthew 7:15-20. „“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.”
The instructions in the Holy Scriptures will help us find the narrow way and avoid pitfalls leading to the wide road of destruction, but we must align our lives with its content and not be misled, especially not following the will of the world and the majority who walk the wide path.
Matthew 7:21-23. „“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”
From this statement, we conclude that it is directed at people who recognize Christ as their Lord and believed they remained and did much in His name. However, as verse 23 suggests, something was missing, which Christ explains in verse 21: „but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Note also the phrase „in Your Name.” Further verses highlight how important it is to know the True Christ by His true name, Yeshu. People believe that names can be translated into other languages, but isn’t that the wide path? The Name of our Lord was given as a command to both Joseph and Mary, to name Christ. This Name comes from God the Father and was verbally delivered by the angel to Joseph and Mary, who fulfilled God’s will. More details in the article „How to Achieve Salvation pt.1 and pt.2,” „The Name that Saves,” and „Satan’s Tactics for Deceive the World pt.3 and pt.4.”
Matthew 7:24-27. „“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.””
How important it is not only to listen but also to put into practice. Nowadays, the vast majority of people around the world have access to the Inspired Scriptures. We can all follow the examples of our Savior Yeshu and His servants, being cautious of traps set before us and checking if we have wandered onto the wide road of destruction.
Our Lord is Yeshu!!!
