Today we will discuss what needs to be done to attain salvation. I know that many people repeat the phrase โ€œsalvation by graceโ€ as if nothing needs to be done. Yet, the entire Bible is full of instructions: what to do, what to avoid, how to live. Grace does not mean there are no conditions โ€“ it means we are not able to pay for it; however, to benefit from grace, we must respond to Godโ€™s call. Not everyone will be saved. Today we will discuss four basic steps that โ€“ apart from generally modeling our lives after Christ โ€“ are absolutely essential and radically increase the chance of salvation.

Letโ€™s start with the words from the Gospel of ๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’:๐Ÿ”: โ€œYeshu said: I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.โ€ This is the key: there is no other way to the Father. That way is the Messiah, Yeshu. His words must not be disregarded or replaced with our own ideas. He brings people to God (๐‘๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐Ÿ“) and sets the conditions. He will not bring to the Father murderers, rapists, liars, and thieves who do not abandon evil โ€“ there are conditions. The first of these is faith.

๐‘๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ reminds us: โ€œFor if you declare with your mouth that Yeshu is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.โ€ (๐‘๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ:๐Ÿ—). So we have a dual requirement: faith in the heart and confession with the mouth. Christ says, โ€œwhoever denies Me before people, I will also deny themโ€ โ€“ that’s why public confession is necessary. Further (๐‘๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘): โ€œFor everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.โ€ So another condition is calling on the name. What does that mean? It means addressing Christ in prayer, by name.

And take note: in apostolic times, they proclaimed a specific Messiah โ€“ ๐˜๐ž๐ฌ๐ก๐ฎ โ€“ whom they knew from His teachings and miracles, who was crucified and whom God raised from the dead. Over time, the adversary used the โ€œcounterfeitโ€ method: creating similar deities and similar sounds, changing a small detail โ€“ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ง๐š๐ฆ๐ž. Just as in antiquity various religions understood the concept of โ€œGod the Father,โ€ yet worshipped different beings, so today many say โ€œChrist,โ€ but use a different name, directing prayers not to the true Messiah. A simple image: if Christ gave us an โ€œe-mail addressโ€ โ€“ the name Yeshu โ€“ and someone claims any address will work, it contradicts experience: a single changed letter and the message does not reach the recipient. In spiritual reality it is the same โ€“ calling on the name is addressing prayers. A different name โ€“ a different address. Someone else may even โ€œanswerโ€ to lend credibility to the lie (compare the signs and wonders of the false Christ), but that is not our Lord.

That is why โ€œcalling on the nameโ€ means praying to Christ using His name. The claim that one must not pray to Christ is inconsistent with Scripture. โ€œWhatever you ask in my name, I will do.โ€ โ€“ He says (๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’). ๐Ÿ ๐‚๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐š๐ง๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ:๐Ÿ‘ warns that no one in the Spirit of God will call Yeshu a curse; on the contrary, only in the Spirit can one confess, โ€œ๐˜๐ž๐ฌ๐ก๐ฎ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐‹๐จ๐ซ๐.โ€ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐š๐ง๐ฌ ๐Ÿ:๐Ÿ๐ŸŽโ€“๐Ÿ๐Ÿ says that โ€œat the name of Yeshu every knee will bowโ€ฆ and every tongue confess that Yeshu the Anointed is Lord.โ€

๐’๐ญ๐ž๐ฉ ๐จ๐ง๐ž: believe and call on the name of the Lord Yeshu. That means: pray to Him, call upon Him, give Him glory โ€“ by His name.

๐’๐ญ๐ž๐ฉ ๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ: immersion (baptism) in His name. ๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ:๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ–: โ€œCorrect yourselves and let each of you be immersed in the name of Yeshu the Anointed for the forgiveness of your shortcomings, and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit.โ€ This is clear: when people understood their error regarding the Messiah, they asked: โ€œWhat should we do?โ€ โ€“ and heard the answer: repentance and immersion in the name of Yeshu. In ๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” Ananias says to Paul: โ€œRise up, be immersed and wash away your shortcomings, calling on His name!โ€ We see a close connection: immersion and calling on the name of Yeshu.

๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ–:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ shows that Philip โ€œtaught about the Kingdom of God and the name of Yeshu the Anointed,โ€ and those who believed received immersion. ๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ:๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ–: โ€œHe ordered them to be immersed in the name of Yeshu the Anointed.โ€ ๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—:๐Ÿ“: โ€œWhen they heard this,”they received immersion in the name of the Lord Yeshu.โ€ This is a consistent apostolic practice. Immersion in the โ€œname of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spiritโ€ in the liturgical form we know today is a later formulaโ€”๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐š๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ง๐š๐ฆ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐˜๐ž๐ฌ๐ก๐ฎ. If someone was immersed โ€œin the Trinity,โ€ in โ€œJesus,โ€ โ€œJeshua,โ€ and the like, they should correct this and receive immersion in the true name. It is an act of belonging: you die to your former life and a servant of Yeshu is born. From this moment on, you belong to Himโ€”and that is your hope.

๐’๐ญ๐ž๐ฉ ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐ž๐ž: eating the flesh and drinking the blood of the Son of Man. ๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Ÿ” says directly: โ€œUnless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has within themselves the life of the age to come, for I will raise them up on the last day.โ€ (๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Ÿ”:๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ‘โ€“๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ’). This is the condition of fellowship with Christ: โ€œWhoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in themโ€ (๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Ÿ”:๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ”). The apostle Paul adds: โ€œThe cup of blessingโ€ฆ is it not participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we breakโ€ฆ is it not participation in His body?โ€ (๐Ÿ ๐‚๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐š๐ง๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”โ€“๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•). Christ established the memorial in which bread represents His body, and wineโ€”His blood. This is not cannibalism, but a holy sign of the new covenant. We celebrate the memorial once a year, at the time of His death.

๐’๐ญ๐ž๐ฉ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ: endurance to the end. โ€œBecause of my name you will also be hated by everyone, but whoever endures to the end will be saved.โ€ (๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ค ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘; ๐Œ๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ฐ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ). Not โ€œonce saved, always saved,โ€ but faithfulness to the end, even amid opposition for the name of Yeshu. Paul said: โ€œI am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Yeshuโ€ (๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘). Revelation commends the assemblies who โ€œendured opposition for my name,โ€ โ€œdid not deny my nameโ€ (๐‘๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐Ÿโ€“๐Ÿ‘). This is the litmus test of faithfulness.

๐๐จ๐ฐ, ๐š ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฐ ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐ญ ๐œ๐ฅ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐š๐ง๐ฌ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง ๐ช๐ฎ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ:

โ€“ Calling on the name means prayer. The Old Testament shows priests and prophets โ€œcalling on the nameโ€โ€”that is, praying. The New Testament confirms this: Christ receives prayers and answers (๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘โ€“๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’). There is no biblical prohibition against praying to Christ; on the contraryโ€”it is an expression of faith in His lordship. We pray to the Father as โ€œOur Father,โ€ because the Fatherโ€™s name was not preserved in purity through the centuries; what is crucial is to come to the Father โ€œin the name of Yeshu.โ€

โ€“ โ€œ๐€๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ž ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ง๐จ ๐ฌ๐š๐ฅ๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ข๐ง ๐š๐ง๐ฒ๐จ๐ง๐ž ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฌ๐ž, ๐ง๐จ๐ซ ๐ก๐š๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ฒ ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐ง๐š๐ฆ๐ž ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ฏ๐ž๐ง ๐›๐ž๐ž๐ง ๐ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ง ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฉ๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž, ๐›๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ก๐ข๐œ๐ก ๐ฐ๐ž ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐›๐ž ๐ฌ๐š๐ฏ๐ž๐.โ€ (๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ’:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ). Not in the name YHWH, not in the name โ€œJesusโ€ or โ€œJeshuaโ€โ€”but in the name Yeshu, which the apostles brought to the world. No wonder the opponent alters the sound. The Bible teaches that one letter changes the meaning of a name (Abram/Abraham, Sarai/Sarah). A name is not just an arbitrary label, but a sign of identity and authority.

โ€“ Regarding the supposed meaning โ€œJeshua = YHWH is salvationโ€: โ€œJeshuaโ€ is the noun โ€œsalvationโ€ (feminine form in Hebrew). The name given to the Messiah is the masculine formโ€”Yeshuโ€”โ€œSavior.โ€ The angel explained: โ€œYou will call Him Yeshu, for He will save His people from their sinsโ€โ€”not โ€œYHWH will save through Him,โ€ but โ€œHe will save.โ€ Such is the importance of the name given from heaven.

โ€“ On Greek forms: in the nominative case there is the ending -s (Iesous), but in the vocative, accusative, and most actual uses we have โ€œIesuโ€โ€”corresponding to โ€œYeshu.โ€ If the apostles had used โ€œJeshua,โ€ in Greek we would see โ€œIesoua/Iesuasโ€โ€”but we do not.

โ€“ On drinking blood and the kind of drink: the symbol of blood is wine. In that climate, fresh juice (oinos was used broadly) would quickly ferment; there were no refrigerators or preservatives. The Passover wine was regular table wineโ€”often diluted, sometimes sour. It is not about the alcohol content, but the sign of the covenant.

โ€“ About people of the Old Covenant and nations: Judgment belongs to Christ. We know that the righteous patriarchs will be in the new age (๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Ÿ–:๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ”; ๐Œ๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ฐ ๐Ÿ–:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ). We also know that people who have not heard the Gospel will be judged according to the law written in their hearts (๐‘๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐ฌ ๐Ÿ:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’โ€“๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”).However, the first resurrection concerns those who belong to Yeshu, called on His name, and remained in the covenant.

โ€“ On the nature of the Son: The Son is not the Father; on earth, He was a human, lower than the angels, could die and rise again. He is the Servant of the Father and the Lord exalted to glory โ€“ and the Father wants everyone to honor the Son as they honor the Father (๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Ÿ“:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘). Through the Son, we have access to the Father (๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’:๐Ÿ”).

โ€“ On resistance to the name: Notice that opposition most often arises against the name Yeshu. That is significant: it is precisely what the Lord warned about โ€“ persecution โ€œbecause of my name.โ€ We do not seek disputes, but we do not deny the name.

โ€ข Partake of His body and blood โ€“ participate in the annual Memorial of His death, remaining in the covenant.

โ€ข Endure to the end โ€“ even amid opposition because of His name.

Let this be our attitude: to remain in the word, in the name, and in the love of the Lord. If you have questions โ€“ write. If you feel in your heart that it is time to return to the Lord and set things right โ€“ do it today.
