“Everyone who misses the mark commits a transgression; indeed, missing the mark is transgression.” β οΈ (1 John 3:4)
This verse from the First Letter of John is a clear definition of sinβas “missing the mark” (the Greek word *hamartia* literally means “missing the target,” like an arrow missing the bullseye). It is worth explaining that the popular Polish word for sin, “grzech,” comes from the Slavic *grΔchΡ*, which also means “error” or “missing.” Therefore, sin is not only doing evil (such as lying or stealing) but also missing the calling and the purpose that God has set for us.
π This includes neglecting the good, ignoring God’s plan for our lives, or avoiding serviceβeverything that distances us from His will and destiny (Romans 3:23). In today’s world, where we focus on “major” sins, these words remind us that sin is every step off Godβs path. But the good news is: **Yeshu** came to save us from this “missing” (1 John 3:5)!
**Reflection for today:** Consider in which areas you are “missing the mark”βare you fulfilling Godβs calling, or are you missing it? π€ Ask God for wisdom so that you may hit the bullseye of His planβHe forgives and leads! π Remember, life with **Yeshu** is about hitting the targetβit is full of meaning and joy! β€οΈ If you agree, write: **amen**.
