“Once the owner of the house gets up and shuts the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Lord, open the door for us.’ But he will answer, ‘I donβt know you or where you come from.’ Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’ But he will reply, ‘I donβt know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers [workers of unrighteousness]!'” β οΈ (Luke 13:25-27)
This staggering passage is Yeshu’s warning against a false sense of security β it is not enough to be externally close to Him to be recognized as His follower. Let us emphasize that merely believing in Christ does not mean that Christ Yeshu will recognize us as His followers; what matters is living in accordance with His will, not just proximity or tradition. In this verse, the words are addressed to Messianic Jews living in Israel, who eat and drink “before Him” (participating in rituals), and He taught in their streets β but He will consider them “workers of unrighteousness” because they do not fulfill the Father’s will and they deny His name (Mark 8:38; 13:13). This is a warning for everyone: those who think they have a close relationship with Christ, you are deceiving yourselves if you do not respect His Only name β the doors may close if we do not live by His teachings! π In today’s world, where many “believe” emotionally, these words call for an authentic relationship with Yeshu. You cannot have this relationship if you do not even know the true name of Christ.
**Reflection for today:** Consider whether your life shows that you are a follower of Yeshu, or are you just “riding” on tradition? π€ Are you avoiding “unrighteousness” in your daily choices? Ask God for an obedient heart β He desires to truly know us! π Remember, entering the Kingdom is a privilege, the fruit of your faith in action β donβt be outside when the doors close! β€οΈ
